Before we could really get going on reading we needed to know about some different kinds of books and which kind helps us become better readers. Then we learned how to find those books. During our Reading Focus lessons we will be learning the stratagies good readers use to help read and understand text. At first we learn the Fix-up strategies that help us when we are stuck on a word. You will find a list of those below.
Making Good Book ChoicesEASY--Eady to understand. You choose this type to relax.
JUST RIGHT--These books are fairly easy to read, you only slow down ar reread a couple of times. These books help you be a better reader. CHALLENGING--These books are difficukt to read. There are many words you do not understand. NOT a good choice now. |
